Why Hunt with Flying Feathers?
Fully Guided Hunts
The guides at Flying Feathers probably enjoy the hunt as much as you will. With many years of experience, they will do everything possible to ensure you have a good hunt. You are welcome to bring your own gun dogs, but we have expertly trained dogs we can provide at no extra charge.
Show Up & Shoot
Each hunter must bring a ‘hunter orange’ vest or cap, walking boots, shotgun and shells. We suggest using #6 shot for pheasant, and an improved or modified choke works best. We also suggest bringing a cooler to transport your game home. Other than that, just show up and have fun!
We Make it Easy
All hunts, half-day or full-day, include an experienced guide, trained bird dogs, birds dressed and packaged, a group photo and a home cooked lunch. There is a No Bag Limit meaning you may shoot any birds left in the field by previous hunters at no extra charge.
Three Different Game Birds on our Hunting Preserve
Pheasant, defined by many game bird hunters as “the ultimate” game bird! So what makes pheasant hunting different? Several things go into the pheasant hunt that are different. Pheasant are alert to their surroundings. If they sense something different they run. They are the biggest game bird, so they are strong and can fly a long distance.
We recommend #6 size shot shells.
Chukar are a little less familiar to game birds hunters, but their popularity is certainly increasing. They are a fun bird to hunt. The chukar is a good sized bird, larger than a quail and smaller than a hen pheasant. When a chukar flies it reaches 8-12’ high quickly and will go absolutely any direction! Chukar is a fun hunt and arguably the best game bird to eat!
We suggest using #7 ½ if hunting a mix of quail/chukar, or #6 shot shells if with pheasant.
The fact that quail are small covey birds, meaning that they hang out in groups, makes the hunting of them an added challenge. They fly fast and low. So imagine suddenly having 3-5 birds getting up, going in different directions with a flurry of noise, about 4-7’ above the ground. It’s a thrilling experience that will challenge any bird hunter!
We recommend using #7 ½ - 8 shot shells with a modified or improved choke shotgun.

Magnum All Day
- This hunt showcases the three different types of birds. The element of surprise and chance is the drawing point in this hunt.
- You will be hunting:
- 5 pheasant
- 8 quail
- 6 chukar
- Party of two or more required.
European Hunt
- 15 pheasant per shooter
- Our European Course is set up in a timbered area.
- Ten shooting stations surround the tower in a large circle.
- Pheasant are released and will fly 40 mph above the trees past the shooting stations. This is a “shoot.”
- Includes a full-course meal, snack at break, birds cleaned and packaged and group photo!

All hunts are available as half-day or full-day outings and include an experienced guide, trained bird dogs, field-dressed and packaged birds, a homecooked lunch, and a group photo to remember the day. You’re welcome to bring your own gun dogs, but we’re proud to provide expertly trained dogs at no extra charge.
We offer flexible, made-to-order hunt packages:

- Set your desired number of birds
- Request bird dogs or bring your own
- Enjoy no bag limits — leftover birds from previous hunts are fair game at no additional cost

Bird Hunting Season, Gear & Booking Information
Our bird hunting season runs from November 1 through mid-March, with guided hunts offered throughout the week. To book your hunt, simply call ahead and we’ll walk you through the options and availability. We recommend bringing:
- Shotgun with improved or modified choke
- Shells (typically #6 for pheasant, #7½–8 for quail and chukar)
- Hunter orange cap or vest (required)
- Boots and cooler for game transport
