European Pheasant Hunt at Flying Feathers

Step into the action of a true European-style pheasant shoot — right here in Southwest Missouri. Surrounded by towering timber and crisp air, you’ll rotate through 10 stations as hundreds of pheasants soar overhead at speeds up to 40 mph. Whether you're a seasoned wing shooter or first-timer, this unique experience promises adrenaline, camaraderie, and an unforgettable day in the field.

The Experience

Our European Hunt Course is designed for challenge and excitement. A central release tower is nestled deep in the woods, with 10 shooting stations arranged in a large circle. Some stations are in open fields, others tucked into the timber — each offering a different angle and level of difficulty.

Throughout the day:

• 300 pheasants are released in waves
• Shooters rotate through all 10 stations
• Birds fly high above the treetops, fast and unpredictable

Bring five boxes of shells, your favorite shotgun, and a trigger finger ready to fire — this is a true shoot, not a casual stroll through the field.

Who Can Participate

• Open to individuals and groups
• 20 shooters total per event
• $425 per shooter, includes 15 pheasant allocated per person
• A $75 non-refundable deposit secures your spot
• Call to be added to the shooter list — we’ll notify you of upcoming dates

What’s Included

Your day begins at the Flying Feathers hunting lodge, where you'll receive:

• Safety instructions & rotation overview
• Assigned shooting station
• Pro tips from experienced staff

At the mid-point, enjoy a break with homemade cookies, coffee, soda, and water while our retrievers bring back birds. Then we release the final 150 pheasants.

After the shoot:

• Relax by the fire, swap stories, and enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal
• Menu includes BBQ pork, brisket, ham, au gratin potatoes, rice casserole, vegetables, fresh salads, homemade pies, and dessert
• We’ll clean and package your birds while you unwind

What to Bring

• Missouri small game license OR $5 preserve permit (sold onsite)
• Hunter orange vest or cap
• Eye and ear protection
• 5–6 boxes of 2¾", #6 high-brass magnum shells
• Modified or full choke shotgun (with plug installed, per Missouri law)
• A cooler to take your birds home
• Tips for dog handlers are appreciated
